To empower vulnerable individuals and households, refugees, and returnees to have a better access to the available social and economic opportunities to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

To contribute to the sustainable social and economic development of vulnerable communities, refugees, and returnees through integrated livelihood development.

Objective

To mitigate the rising poverty and joblessness among poor and vulnerable women and youth through equipping them with employability and marketable vocational skills training combined with job creation and linkage.

Organizational Background For O.I.C-E

OICE is a local non-profit making community-focused development and humanitarian organization established in January 1973 G.C. It was founded by a group of concerned community leaders who envisioned to improving the growing unemployment among the youth and women in Ethiopia. Through time it has broadened its area of operation prompted by the multifaceted challenges facing the country including refugee crises and urban destitution. OICE is one of the pioneers in implementing skill development and refugee support programs in Ethiopia

Legality

OICE was recognized as a technical and vocational training institute when it first started its program in Ethiopia almost five decades ago. And currently, following the new proclamation, it was registered in 2019 by the Agency for Civil Society Organizations as a local organization bearing certificate number 0187. Furthermore, the vocational training centers both in Gulele and Bole Sub-cities has been provided with renewed training certificates, by the respective sub-cities Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) authorities
